Recom chooses buck-boost topology for versatile half-brick DC/DC converter

The latest buck-boost, non-isolated DC/DC converter from Recom has efficiency of 98% and a baseplate-cooled package.

The RBBA3000 features a maximum of 3kW output in an industry-standard, half-brick baseplate-cooled package. Input range is 9.0 to 60V DC and the output voltage and maximum current can be user-programmed from 0 to 60V DC and 0 to 50A respectively.

Programming can be via a single resistor or by an externally applied voltage.

The buck-boost topology used in the DC/DC converter allows the output voltage to be set lower or higher than the input voltage. In addition to 98% conversion efficiency, the converter operates over the -40 to 85°C temperature range when appropriately cooled. The load current can be monitored from a current share pin which can also be used to parallel two modules to provide up to 100A output with active load balancing.

The converter complies with EMC standard EN55024 and EN 55032 class A and B with an external filter. Typical applications are 48 to 24V or 12 to 24V battery power conversion, electric vehicle voltage regulators, battery voltage stabilisers or high power laboratory DC power supplies. It is backed by the company’s two-year warranty.

Samples and OEM pricing are available from all authorised distributors or directly from Recom.
