Dimmable LED driver supports multiple topologies

The integrated design supports multiple topologies, i.e. boost, buck-boost and single ended primary inductive converter (SEPIC) topologies. It also supports continuous conduction mode (CCM), discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) and boundary conduction mode (BCM).

It is designed for high-brightness automotive applications, for example high and low beam headlights, daytime running lights, turn indicators, position indicator lights, fog lights; all terrain vehicles (ATVs) and four-wheel drive high-brightness lamps. There is also a version for a range of non-automotive DC-input LED lighting applications.

Operating temperature range is -40 to 125°C. The low side current sensing and a spread spectrum clock lower EMI/RFI and facilitate regulatory compliance, adds the company.

Other features are pulse width modulation and analogue dimming, operation with microcontroller or analogue circuits, an adjustable frequency of 70 to 700kHz and is available in an MSOP-10EP package.

Samples are in stock now from authorised distributors, Digi-Key and Mouser.

Taiwan Semiconductor has over 40 years’ experience in discrete power rectifiers. Its expanded product portfolio includes trench Schottky’s, MOSFETs, power transistors, LED driver ICs, analogue ICs and ESD protection devices.
