Synchronous rectification ICs meet data centre energy efficiency standards

The IR1161L and IR11688S meet the 2016 standards set by the US Department of Energy (DoE) and the European Code of Conduct for Energy Efficiency in Data Centre, which demand a one to 3% efficiency improvement over previous requirements. The company says that 2% saving, an average for new adapters, will save 525GWh/year for notebook users.)

The IR1161L is targeted for flyback switch-mode power supplies (SMPS) in chargers and adapters and the IR11688S is targeted for LLC SMPS in televisions, desktops, silver boxes and micro-servers.

Both offer 200V direct sensing to eliminate the need for external voltage dividers. They also have programmable minimum on-time, for reliable operation from no-load to full-load. The low quiescent current capability meets the standby requirements of the new 2016 efficiency standard in the industry.
