Shunt resistors are designed for automotive and industrial use

The shunt resistors are characterised by a high rated power of 3.0W and a resistance range from 5.0 to 220mΩ. Their resistance tolerance is specified with F (±1%). The temperature co-efficient of resistance (TCR) is ±20ppm/°C.

The company says, when using a 10mΩ resistor at 3.0W, the shunt resistor limits the temperature rise to 100°C. A conventional resistor reaches 181°C, which equates to a reduction of 45%. The level of heat dissipation makes it possible to maintain stable characteristics without a change in resistance value during both normal operation and at over-load currents.

The resistors are designed for automotive, industrial and large-scale consumer electronics markets, and measure 6.4 x 3.2 x 0.4mm. A special structure supports the low profile form factor (0.4mm). This makes the series 47% thinner than existing solutions, claims the company and provides greater scope in applications with strict temperature requirements, such as automotive systems and industrial equipment.
Operating temperature range is -55 to 170°C.

The company explains that the increasing number of small motors and ECUs, a response to the continued electronification and motorisation of automotive systems, produces a greater demand for compact shunt resistors that support high-power applications.

The GMR100 series is available in the standard 6432 (2512 inch) package.
