Photovoltaic fuses prepare for integrated solar shingles, says Littelfuse

It is specifically designed to address the latest trend in solar roofing by enabling PV shingles that integrate both the shingles with the PV cells while incorporating protection that meets the UL 248-19 standard for PV applications. The 400PV Fuse is surface mount, circuit protection component supplied in a 2410 housing.

It helps to eliminate the need to mount separate solar panels over the existing roofing, allowing the use of the new integrated PV shingles to serve as the protective roofing material while collecting electricity to power the building.

According to Boris Golubovic, vice president, marketing and strategy at Littelfuse: “The protection provided by these PV fuses help ensure the operational longevity, maintenance convenience, and safety of solar home and building applications.”

The 400PV Fuse series has a maximum interrupting current of 10,000A at rated voltage. The surface mount design and 2410 size save board space for both leaded and lead-free soldering. It is environmentally-friendly, lead-free, halogen-free, and RoHS-compliant, adds Littelfuse.

The fuses are available in tape and reel packaging. Sample requests can be placed through authorised distributors worldwide.
