The IC uses a PWM dimming input signal and modulates the output current amplitude proportional to the duty cycle. A dim-to-off mode offers a standby power of less than 100mW. There is also an output voltage that can be varied by a factor of three.
The power factor is more than 0.9 and total harmonic distortion is less than 15% over a wide load and input range. The IC also supports the IEC61000-3-2 class C standard, making it suitable for use in LED luminaires. The limited power mode improves functional safety, says the company, while algorithms provide flicker-free dimming below 1% for light quality even at low dimming levels.
Protection modes are configurable and an adaptive temperature guard prevents the driver hardware from thermal wear. The adaptive over-voltage protection enables lower safety margins to meet safety extra low voltage (SELV) specifications.
The CC flyback IC is available now in a DSO-8 package.
